The Hereford breed is a strong maternal breed and we have not forgotten it. To choose our goal of being top seed stock producers we have chosen to use proven cow families as the basis of the Lone Pine Herd. We have spent years recording cow families, monitoring the production of individual families and paying attention to the best accepted cows in the Hereford breed. When opportunity arises we introduce new cow families into the herd. The new genetics come from either newly purchased females of herd sires and AI. Once we have new genetics in the herd we do not offer any females for sale from the cow family until we are satisfied that we have the number of individuals we require in the herd.
