Our Story

Originally from Nova Scotia, Kim and Colin Palmer moved to Saskatchewan in 1993 to further Colin’s veterinary career. Having been raised on a commercial beef farm Colin had long-desired a cattle herd of his own and following the sale of our last polled Hereford cow in Nova Scotia we purchased the first 3 Red Angus females from the Laredo Cattle Company in December 1997… 2 cows and a heifer.

To expand the herd embryo transfer was used with six pregnancies, 3 bulls and 3 heifers sired by Red LMAN King Rob 8621, resulting from a single flush of one of the cows, Red Symbrae Lady 189A, early in 1998 who then conceived on the next heat and produced twin heifers sired by Red Leachman Heavenly 8141. The other cow, Red SSS Elba 916B, was successfully flushed to King Rob in 1999 and produced one our of most productive cows Red KCP.

The KC Cattle Co. herd would not have been possible if it weren’t for our good friends Guy and Colleen Sampson of Davidson, Saskatchewan who kept our cows until 2004 when we finally bought land of our own at our current location south of Saskatoon. We have benefited tremendously through intensive fixed-timed AI programs with nearly all of our calves resulting from this technology. Our cattle business is a family function and our cattle must be quiet and easy to handle. Our children: Lauren,
Emily and Carter were born in 1998, 2000 and 2006 are becoming involved in the farm learning the benefits of country life
and a strong work ethic.
