We started our purebred
herd with four females. The one that shows up the most in our
pedigree now is a WDW BRONZE 604U dam. And from her a
MAIN FRANCHISE 127Z dam, ‘HEJ Cocoa 25B’.
She has tremendous capacity; she is deep bodied, great spring of rib
and good thickness, without giving up femininity, we retired her at
15 years of age and she was still milking strong with a well
attached udder and nicely shaped teats, ‘HEJ JILL-A-ROO 3B’is
from a red Australian bull ‘CHIEFTAIN”. She is quite similar in her
make-up to ‘COCOA’ but probably a frame size smaller.
Her son’s are eye appealing and beefy, her daughters the same with
perfect udders and great milking ability. We have developed
a line of black purebred Charolais along with Char-maine Ranching.
The black gene is the result of upgrading from a Black Angus cow we
had purchased then bred with red factor Charolais bulls. Between
the red and black Charolais we have learned much about colour
genetics in the Charolais cattle.
